Good morning on a cloudy day. It started out partly cloudy and then everything closed in. It is cool and the precipitation should come in later. March is doing its usual--promising spring and then throwing us back into winter. It is somewhat disorienting. I had been comfortable in a t-shirt but have switched into my flannel shirts. I haven't been too energetic today. I got a box of four nice sticky cinnamon rolls in the grocery order yesterday and we finished the last two this morning for breakfast. We were surprised to see a list of three back-to-back soccer games today so we can ignore the news for quite a while today. I pulled out the Tunisian stitch blanket I started using my left over yarns. I realized I had done too much Tunisian lately and needed something different. I make a couple of starts on some square patterns and finally find one I think I like. I had to stop when I realized I was losing my concentration. I will pick it up tomorrow--maybe. I am almost finished with an embroidered dresser scarf. Should finish it later this week so I looked to see if I had another small piece to bring out next. Well I do have two pairs of pillow cases and a dresser scarf. I am not too sure I want to do them just yet as I have already done two of the same pattern before. I bought only one copy of the dresser scarf and found that Mom also had one in her stash when we moved in together twenty five years ago. I finished both of those. My brother gave me the other pieces when his wife died. I almost forgot I also have another pair of pillow cases which are identical to another I finished a couple of years ago. Evidently my sister-in-law picked up the pieces planning to give similar gifts to several people. She hadn't startedd these when she died. There is an old quip among needleworkers about S.A.B.L.E. --Stash Acquired Beyond Life Expectancy. I don't know any crafters who aren't in that situation.

We had some very fine snow flakes for a very brief time yesterday. Nothing accumulated. It is cloudy today and we should get some rain. Since Chicago has two large St. Patrick's Day parades they are hoping it comes late in the day. We don't have any where to go so I am chilling out. I don't even have to cook because I am working through the last of the left overs from the week. Tomorrow I will have to plan some new meals.
Bill Astore has posted this piece on our current situation in the Middle East. We have been caught in a futile downward spiral for at least the last 30 years. When will we decide to do something else?

This is my last post. I have done this for the past 23 years and I think it is time to retire. I have said as much as I can without repeating myself endlessly and I find that a dismal and boring activity.
